Meet your future tech entrepreneurs at the LA Youth Hack Jam! Do you want to peel back the covers and learn how a website or service works? Do you want to spend the afternoon with other curious people like yourself and build a website, app, or game? Inspired by Mozilla's Summer of Code Party, we're hosting a fun afternoon at Wildwood's campus in Los Angeles for kids and youth aged 5-18 and their Parents/Guardians to learn how to use web tools and learn programming languages. Bring your laptop and be prepared to have a super fun time. Kids as young as 5 will learn how to program using Scratch (fun for all ages). Older kids and parents can also learn HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ruby, how to make a video and upload it to YouTube, you name it. Just bring your imagination, questions and thinking cap. We're hosting this on a Saturday because we want parents and guardians to come too. Kids under 13 must have their parent/guardian present. If you are 13 or older and your parent/guardian can't make it, then we'll need their consent for you to hang out. Our coaches are amazing. They hail from local tech startups, the LA Robotics Club, progressive schools, women's tech groups, Crashspace, Film & TV Studios and many more. Sponsored by: * Wildwood School * Github * Launchpad LA * MIT Club of Southern California * Murach Book Publishing * and more to come...If you want to sponsor or volunteer, please contact Tara Brown. Los Angeles Youth Hack Jam is part of the overall efforts of the Los Angeles Kid Friendly Hackerspace Working Group to open a space in LA for enthusiasts of all ages to learn how to make cool stuff.
